When you’re looking to market your business using video, where should you start? Live video or pre-recorded video?
A lot of entrepreneurs feel a little scared of live video. After all, there’s no do-over when you go live. However, I think the fact that you can’t make it perfect is one of the strengths of Live video.
Let me explain.
When you record a video that you’re going to upload somewhere, what do you do when you make a mistake? If you’re like me you think, “I’ll just do it again so I can get it right.” Then maybe you forget one of your points so you record it a second time. Then you realize you forgot to smile. And so on.
If you’re a true perfectionist this can go on for days until you stop sounding natural and you start hating the topic.
With live video your effort goes into the front end – you plan what you’re going to say ahead of time, practice, promote the live video to get viewers. Then when it’s time to go live, you just hit the go live button and start talking. If you make a mistake, you correct yourself and keep going. If you forget to include something, you use that point later.
But the biggest bonus of Live video is that it just feels more spontaneous and authentic. Once you get good at making videos, your live videos really give people a taste for your style and what it might be like to work with you.
