The Hokey Pokey and The Blogging Boomers Carnival

My son can be a bit of a smart ass. Of course he comes by it honestly. In fact, he learned from the master – his father. Several months ago my husband suggested my son would earn points for every smart ass comment he made. When he reached a set number of points there would be some sort of punishment.

This seemed a little unfair to me. After all, my husband is far more likely to be the one making the comments. So I suggested a modification. It turned into a competition. Each of the “boys” is given a point for any smart ass comment they make to the other. The first one to 100 points has to do the hokey pokey on video to be posted to YouTube.

The results have been amusing. Instead of getting annoyed with each other, they just quietly head on over to the tally sheet and add another point when the other makes a comment. The only downside is collateral damage. Occasionally when they just can’t take being good any more, I’m on the receiving end of their comments. That’s what I get for coming up with the idea in the first place.

The “hokey pokey competition” always makes me laugh. That’s way I was thrilled to see one of the members of the Blogging Boomers Carnival have a post about the hokey pokey. In this fall equinox edition of the carnival you can also see articles about customer service, brain exercises, selling customer t-shirts and other products plus mothers-in-laws and daughers-in-laws.

So please celebrate the fall equinox by enjoying some of the fabulous posts by my fellow Blogging Boomers Carnival members.
