When LinkedIn first launched your profile was pretty flat … the only image was your thumbnail photo.
But LinkedIn has kept up with the times by adding more visuals to the site and to your profile. It no longer has to be just an online resume.
Marketing is about getting people to know, like and trust you. By adding multimedia to your profile you finally have a chance to show off your personality and expertise.
In the Summary section you can upload a video directly to LinkedIn or include a link to a YouTube video or a number of other video services. You can add photos – great if you produce a visual product.
Writers could include PDFs with samples of their work. If you ever give a presentation, upload the PowerPoint to Slideshare and then add that to your profile.
All these tools give people more of an opportunity to find out something about you before they connect. Or, if they’re already connected they may learn something new about the products or services you provide.
Either way, it’s well worth your time putting together some multimedia elements for your profile.
