- Make sure you have a business account. It doesn’t cost anything but allows you access to valuable analytics such as your most repined pins, the reach of your pins, the number of daily clicks to your website from Pinterest.
- Tall vertical-images do better than short, wide images. A large percentage of users are viewing Pinterest from their mobile devices and tall images show up better. Make sure your images are no more than 554 pixels wide.
- Don’t just repin other people’s content. Be sure to create and pin original content. Use your cell phone to capture photos and photo editing software to create attractive pins. Don’t just pin product images – share tips, advice and things you are interested in.
- Don’t be all about yourself. Pin images from other people’s websites (leave the link to their site intact to give proper credit). Show people you’re all about sharing interesting content, not just self promotion.
- Include the Pin It button on your website so visitors can pin images themselves.
- Add beautiful images to your website and blog. Be sure to include a meta description for each image. This meta description will populate the pin unless the pinner edits it.
