2nd quarter check-in
April is the beginning of the second quarter of 2013. If you haven’t done so already, now is a good time to check in with yourself and see how you’re doing with your goals for this year.
Did you achieve your first quarter goals – financial, list building and others? Yes? Yea! Take time to celebrate.
No? Take a moment to notice what worked and what didn’t. Where there things you said you were going to do but didn’t? Figure out why. Were they too hard? You didn’t really want to do them? You forgot? Decide if you want to continue working on these things this quarter, do you want to delegate them or are you going to discard these activities and try something new.
Now set some goals for this quarter. What are you going to do between now and the end of June to help you achieve your goals for the year? Record specific tasks and actions that will move you forward.
Now write them in your calendar. Treat them as you would an appointment with an important client. Make a commitment to achieving more this quarter.
Writing them into your calendar does a number of things. First, it ensure you don’t forget to take these actions. Second, it reinforces your commitment. If you don’t take these actions at the scheduled times it’s because you’ve made a conscious decision not to. Third, it ensures you don’t over schedule yourself.
For example, I am working on getting in shape. Since December I’ve gone from barely being able to finish 12 lengths of the pool to easily completing 60 lengths. I’ve added three times during the week that I go to the pool with my mom. When I’m scheduling my week, I don’t accidentally book meetings during those times. Yes, there are days when I need to skip the pool that day. But it’s because I decided to make a change to my schedule, not because I’m letting my schedule rule me.
So, do your check in then leave a comment and share how you’re doing with your goals this year.
