I realize it’s only been a week since my teleseminar with Mickael Nadeau about building your business with LinkedIn, but I’m really convinced that LinkedIn is an essential marketing tool, if it’s used correctly. So you’ll have to bear with me as I share some more tips.
Another of my LinkedIn connections is Zale Tabakman. Zale is a speaker, writer and consultant and has a blog called Success Through Balance. He has created an incredibly informative slide show – with audio – called Seven Ways to Generate Business with LinkedIn.
This slide show is a great compliment to the information Mickael gave us in last week’s teleseminar. Zale’s “philosophy” if you will is that LinkedIn is about building one-on-one relationships. Yes, you can – and possibly should – have a large network, but you need to deal with people one-on-one.
How do you have a large network and still connect with individuals? By being strategic and selective. For example, if you’re trying to do business with a particular company, search your connections for someone who works there. Then contact them directly and ask some questions. See if they can tell you more about the company and who you need to speak with.
The key with building relationships with a large network is not to become best friends with everyone on your list – that’s impossible. But if you help others when you can, make connections when appropriate and be respectful in all your contacts with people you’ll find your LinkedIn network can be very valuable in the long term.
If you’re using LinkedIn to build your business – or still sitting on the fence – viewing Zale’s slide show is a must for your to do list.
Happy networking!
