What people are saying about:

Archive for blogging

Whoever said bloggers can’t make BIG money had not heard this story.

Yaro Starak – my blogging coach – interviewed his previous student, Alborz Fallah, who is the owner of caradvice.com.au – a car blog for Australians, which was valued at $5 million dollars and generates close to $50,000 a month.

You can listen or read the interview here -

Alborz Fallah Interview – Million Dollar Blogger

Alborz started his blog like most people, sitting at home, writing content each day outside of the time he spent at his full time job. His blog grew, he started making money and he just kept working.

Eventually he was approached by people who wanted to buy his blog. He said no, until someone came along who only wanted to buy a share in the site and help it continue to grow. Alborz agreed and
his blog immediately went from part time hobby, to full time business.

Today Alborz’s blog has full time employees, he travels to Europe to test some of the most prestigious cars in the world and it’s fair to say he is living a dream – making big money writing about a topic he loves.

In this interview you can hear Alborz talk about how he grew his traffic, how he brought on investors to help grow his site and what’s it like being in charge of a multi-million dollar blog.

It’s worth listening to this interview because you can learn some key things to help with your own quest to make a profitable blog, for example:

  • How Alborz chose the topic for his blog is a great lesson for anyone else out there struggling to come up with a blog topic
  • The search engine advice Alborz offers is powerful yet simple and will immediately help your own blog get more traffic, if you follow it
  • The story of how investors came on board to take Car Advice to the next level is unique, but definitely worth hearing because it shows how you can grow a blog from just making a few hundred dollars, to making six or seven figures a year.

If you have ever wondered how someone makes a six-figure income online using a blog, I have
a video you just HAVE to watch.

Here’s the link:

Conversation Blogging

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ve heard me talk about Yaro Starak. Yaro’s a well-respected blogger and blog trainer (he trained me), and has released a free video that takes you inside his Internet business, which is based on just one blog.

Using his blog, Yaro generates a steady $10,000 to $20,000 each and every month.

His system is not your usual story of using a blog and sticking AdSense on it – he’s taken a much more BUSINESS focused approach.

He calls his system “Conversion Blogging” because it combines a blog with an email list to create consistent income.

Inside the video you will learn:

- Why blogs are the only Web 2.0 marketing tool you will ever need

- Exactly how Yaro uses his blog to build a MASSIVE email list

- How just a blog can turn you into the No. 1 authority in your market

- What methods Yaro uses to translate his blog into a steady cash-flow stream

- How you can replicate Yaro’s methods using just one blog and get started in minutes

I loved this video because it’s not full of marketing hype, just a very down to earth and practical presentation.

I guarantee you will enjoy this and learn something too.

Set aside 32 minutes now, grab a drink, sit down and watch this video -

Last night I interviewed blogging expert Yaro Starak about blogging for business as part of my Build Your Business Teleseminar Series. I asked him what makes a blog different from a regular website.

Blogs are more interactive than a static website

The interactivity of a blog is one of the most important differences between a blog and a static website. When you write a blog post, your readers don’t just passively consume your content. They can leave comments – agreeing, expanding on or disagreeing with what you have to say. They are starting a conversation with you and with other readers.

Additionally, other bloggers may comment on what your write with a link back to your original post. This expands the conversation beyond your readers and out into the blogosphere.

From a marketing perspective this is important for two reasons. One, by engaging your readers in a conversation, you are creating a deeper connection. They are beginning to know, like and trust you. These are the keys to turning someone from a prospect into a customer.

A second reason this conversation is important is “social proof”. When new readers visit your blog, they see that others are already involved in a conversation. This gives them the message that what you have to say is well received by others and they have an increased level of trust before they’ve even started sampling what you have to offer.

Blogs use a more casual writing style

In the early days of blogging, blogs were more like personal diaries. As a result, people used a very casual writing style. As businesses began jumping on the blogging bandwagon, they tended to maintain this conversational tone.

From a marketing standpoint, this casual writing style helps create a deeper connection with your audience. They feel like they know you better than if they are reading polished marketing materials. They will enjoy the content more and keep coming back.

Blogs are updated more easily and frequently

Blogs are easier to update so they are updated more frequently. Changing a static website may mean learning html code or placing a call to your webmaster. Even if you are using templates and software from your web hosting company, changing or adding new content to your website is a cumbersome process.

With a blog however, it’s really just a matter of entering your article and hitting publish. Even better, you can set up your blog to accept new posts via email.

As a marketer this means you can always have fresh and up-to-date content on your site, encouraging readers to keep coming back. And every marketer knows that frequent, regular contact is key to turning a prospect into a customer. Out of sight, out of mind is doubly true when it comes to marketing.

Because blogs are updated more frequently, search engines love them. Blogs tend to dominate search engine rankings so having a blog is essential if you’re looking for search engine traffic.

This has been my experience. I’ve had my copywriting website up for almost three years and it doesn’t get anywhere near the traffic my blog does. Additionally, Google found my blog after only a month, whereas it took my website almost six months to appear on Google, even if I was searching for my own name.

If you are thinking about starting a blog but are a little leery of the technical side of things, check out Yaro’s becomeablogger.com site. This site has tons of information about the basic skills you need to start a blog. Also check out Yaro’s Blog Profits Blueprint. This free guide is what motivated me to start this blog.

I love getting comments on my blog. Working from home and writing away at my computer, it’s easy to start wondering if anyone is reading what I write. Sure, I can look up the stats showing traffic on my blog, but it doesn’t tell me if people are connecting with what I’m writing.email-spam-2.jpg

Comments however tell me that not only are people reading what I write, they are interested enough to want to start a conversation.

I still remember my first comment. I have WordPress set up to notify me by email when someone posts a comment. When I got that first notification I was so happy! For the first few months, as readership was just starting to grow, I very occasionally got comments. But each time it was a little thrill.

Then I started to get spam comments. It was a real letdown. I’d get an email and be all excited about getting a comment – but it would be spam. But again, these were few and far between at first.

Then about January, when my readership really started to take off, so did my spam. I was getting several a week. Sometimes as many as five a day. Now, instead of getting a little thrill when I got an email about a comment I started to feel annoyed. It was just going to be spam.

Not only was it annoying, but it was time-wasting. I would have to check my email then log into WordPress to delete the spam. I started wondering if there was something I could do. Of course, since I’m using WordPress for my blog there was something I could do – install a plug-in.

If you’re not familiar with blogging, a plug-in is a mini piece of software that you can “plug in” to your WordPress blog to perform certain tasks or functions. For just about anything you could want to do with you blog, someone has created a plug-in for it. And usually these plug-ins are available for free.

Fortunately for me, I didn’t even need to go searching for the plug-in. The Akismet anti-spam plug-in came preinstalled with my WordPress blog; I had just never thought to turn it on.

Well, now I have activated it and I must say I love it! No more emails from my blog that turn out to be spam. Akismet catches all the spam and holds it for me. Periodically I can go in and check it to make sure no real comments were captured but so far that’s never happened. And I must confess I really love deleting spam.

So once again, I can be happy when I receive email notification of a comment to my blog – I know it’s a real comment from someone who connected with what I wrote.

Blogs are everywhere; you can find millions on the web – from a teen’s online diary, to women chronicling struggles with infertility, to computer geeks talking about the latest techno toy.

old-guy-at-computer-smaller.jpgBut can a blog be used as a marketing tool? Until recently I was unconvinced. I saw blogs as a self-publishing medium for kids or as a marketing tool for the tech market. I didn’t see how they could help a business, particularly my business.

Then a couple of things caught my eye. First, I came across Yaro Starak’s Blog Profit’s Blueprint. In this free report, Yaro – a blogger from Australia – talks about how to make money from a blog. In fact, Yaro recently announced that he made over $10,000 in one month – directly from his blog! That sure made me sit up and take notice.

Around the same time, Robert Middleton announced a teleclass on blogging – The Secrets of Attracting More Business Through Blogging. Robert is a well-respected marketing expert and I’ve purchased other products from him in the past. I was curious and purchased the teleclass.

I spent a week listening (and re-listening) to The Secrets of Attracting More Business Through Blogging recording and reading Blog Profits Blueprint. And I was blown away! They convinced me I was missing out on a very powerful marketing tool.

What makes a blog so powerful?

First, it goes back to the rule of seven. If your blog provides great content that your readers find useful, they’ll keep coming back. The more they read, the more they will get to know, like and trust you. By the time they become a regular reader of your blog, you have become a trusted advisor, almost a friend.

Not only that, blogs allow readers to comment on what you write. This makes blogs more of a conversation than a one-way marketing channel. An exciting post may attract many comments; even begin a conversation between readers. Your blog becomes a community, not just an online brochure – as many websites are.

These comments from other readers also help build trust. When a new reader shows up to your blog these comments become a form of social proof. It lets new readers know that other people are regular visitors to your site and like what you have to say. It encourages them to stay and read what you’ve written.

Blogs also give you an advantage with search engine ranking. Blogs can be updated easily and regularly and search engines give high marks to sites that frequently have new content.

Now, your regular website can also be updated regularly – daily even. However, for many people changing the content on their website is difficult. If you need to call your tech guy each time you want to add something to your website it costs you time and money. Most blogs however, can be set up so you can make new posts by email. Write a new post, email it to the blog and voila! There’s your new post. No need for any outside help.

As you can see, I’ve jumped into the blogging pool with both feet. If you’re thinking about trying it yourself, what’s your next step? I highly recommend Yaro Starak’s Blog Profit’s Blueprint. First, it’s free so you’re only out the time it takes to read it. Second, at 55 pages, it is very comprehensive. If you’re thinking about adding a blog to your marketing mix, I guarantee what Yaro has to say will intrigue you.

Next, consider Robert Middleton’s teleclass The Secrets of Attracting More Business Through Blogging. It’s only $29 and is very informative. It focuses on how a blog can be a powerful way to attract customers to your business.
