This is my biggest problem. I really love reading and learning, and getting down to doing, more often than not, gets pushed to the back burner.

I've made a plan and schedule for getting a bunch of stuff implemented before I even go back over anything I've learned. My to-implement list is huge. No more new learning unless it's something I really need to move forward until a lot is finished.

Great post. I've realized there is a point "where I have to get my hands dirty" which is more difficult than merely musing and studying. That's when it gets interesting, though, when we are 'in the arena' of life -- it gets tough, but it's where we test our mettle.

Andrea:

Excellent points! Because of information overload, I now only subscribe to two newsletters (yours and one other)and try not to go searching for more info unless absolutely necessary. As a researcher, I am glad to see you emphasize assessing and evaluating the information in light of your goals. Thanks for the great reminder!

Andrea:

I just found your website today and I'm glad that I did. The information contained on your website has been so helpful.

Regarding the "information merry-go-round", I totally know what you mean. I was actually a little amused when I read your article, because I was thinking pretty much the same thing just yesterday. I get caught up doing "research" and, before I know it, I'm on the merry-go-round with no signs of it slowing down. The other problem I tend to have is information overload. I accumulate too much information before I try to implement what I've learned.

Thanks so much for the wake up call. I look forward to reading more from you in the future.
