I am a Boomer, but I think your site may be a good place for any marketer or business type to get good points.

I need to work on all your points, 1 through 10, I am sorely dis-organized and I think good organization skills will help anyone especially when trying to work from a home office.

I earmarked your site for future looks, I think I wont be disappointed.

You make several good points on how to work from home by setting up a separate home office, making home office as work space and minimizing distractions.
Thanks for sharing. This post really helped me in improving my work at home.

Nice article. Points 1-5 all address a very important point. How do I work from home without having my client lose faith in my capabilities to do a job? Professionalism is the answer, I believe.

The ad campaigns have shown us both sides of that coin. In one a business person is on the beach in a tropical paradise concluding a large contract (the entrepreneurial dream of a sustainable business). In another, a stressed employee agrees to take shipment of an item. His phone supplier is shown as a potbellied, cigar smoking, stained sleeveless tee-shirt toad that comments as he hangs up the phone, "Just got'a other sucka".

The truth of the matter is that either is acceptable as long as the customer’s expectations are met in the contract. Once this interface is satisfactorily created and trust is established, the customer will image a source to solve a problem or need. You will become the professional in that customer's eyes, his associates and companies image, and to yourself (a closed sale helps develop the self confidence that is preceived as professionalism).

My problem with the home office is how do I achieve the required level of trust in that initial interface with the customer. The desk phone and VoIP have both been a disaster. I am now using a dedicated cell phone for my business. I control the interface with my customer and they get to talk directly with me about issues (at my discretion). This is not without a downside but seems to be working well (support for your point 6).

I subscribe to loads of newsletters and RSS feeds but I ignore them during the working day because they are too distracting and can easily keep me from the work that matters such as writing. But I do like to read them for an hour before I go to bed in the evening. I make a cup of hot chocolate and just relax and read. Just like I'm reading this blog tonight at 9:05 p.m.
