- Get tasks you find distasteful or overwhelming out of the way first. Better yet, consider delegating them to someone else.
- Set personal and professional goals to help you identify your priorities.
- Learn to say “no” and to focus on what’s important to achieving your goals.

Don’t try to do all of these things at once! Changes to the way you manage your time should be implemented one at a time. Just like any other life changes, if you try to make too many at one time, you’re apt to get overwhelmed and discouraged.
Effective time management doesn’t happen overnight, but by determining what changes are needed and incorporating them into your lifestyle, you can take control of your time, instead of letting it control you.

This blog is created with WordPress. It has both a WYSIWYG and an html editor. When I started the blog I know NOTHING about code and HTML. Over the years I’ve picked stuff up.
The WordPress software is free, although I recommend paying for your own domain and hosting. I use Hostgator and they have a one-button install for WordPress.
Once WordPress is installed you need a “Theme”. That is the colours, fonts and layout. There are many free ones which are good for starting out.
Then you’re good to go.
Day-to-day management is fairly easy. The other nice thing about a WordPress blog is there are lots of experts available if you need additional help – to do something complicated or if you royally muck things up.
I hope you do get a blog started.

I’ve never heard of blogengine.net. I use WordPress myself and have been very happy with it. Furthermore, most business people I know are switching to it if they aren’t already. The bonus, as open source software there are tons of free plugins and widgets, tons more paid ones, and if you need help there are so many options for tech support. If you’re developer wants you to switch to another system he’d better have a good business case for doing so. I’d also get a second opinion before switching. For me it wouldn’t be just the cost but the learning curve. I never make changes without having a solid reason because I don’t have time to learn things I don’t need to.
