For SEO, it really depends on a number of things. First, which keywords are you trying to get on the top of Google? For really competitive keywords, that may not be something you can do yourself. “Long tail” keywords may be easier for you to DIY.

For example, if your keyword was “insurance”, that’s hard to get to the top of Google because there are millions of sites trying to get that top spot. However, if you were trying to get “life insurance in Owen Sound” to the top of Google, that might be more doable.

Second, it depends on how much time and knowledge you have. If you can devote 10 to 20 hours per week on the right activities, then you might be able to DIY.

My friend told me I should get a Fan page on Facebook. I asked her why, she only gave me a few reasons. It was enough to make me curious. She told me that I would not be limited to 5000 fans, I could add images and that it had many features like a regular website. I am doing my own research, to see if it’s something I should do.
